Cameras, lights, action!

Computers, cameras, i-pads, apps, Facebook, Video cameras, the media, Twitter, MP3s... all of these will likely hold just as much fascination to young people with learning disabilities as other young people.

There are support organisations and colleges up and down the country that have seized the opportunity to support people with learning disabilities by embracing the world of technology.  Not only does it help them to become more independent, it helps them build their friendship networks, and for some has helped them get paid work.

Street College in Oldham is one such organisation and this three page PDF called Imagine explains their approach.  We also encourage you to download this Capturing Reality And Changing Lives PDF which sets the Imagine initiative in the wider context of the 2010 the Audit Commission report: Against the Odds – Re-engaging Young People in Education, Employment or Training.
